Sebastião Salgado at Photo London 2025

For Photo London 2025, the Prix Pictet is collaborating with Polka Galerie, Paris, on a special display of platinum prints from the series Genesis by Sebastião Salgado, who has a long association with both the Prix Pictet and Photo London.

Salgado was the first Photo London Master of Photography in 2015, and his Master of Photography exhibition featured a selection of these prints. An extended interview with Salgado is featured in the Prix Pictet Human publication, which will be available in the space.

Genesis was created between 2004 and 2012. With more than 30 showings internationally, it has become the world's most-viewed photographic exhibition, beating the record of Edward Steichen's Family of Man. The hundreds of images that make up the exhibition question our relationship with the earth and its resources, and awaken our consciences.

To celebrate this extraordinary and unprecedented series, Salgado produced a portfolio of 50 platinum-palladium images from Genesis in 2014, which Galerie Polka presents in its entirety at Photo London 2025. This unique process, invented in 1873 by the Englishman William Willis, gives the print unrivalled beauty and stability.

To coincide with this exhibition, Thames & Hudson will present an exclusive in-person talk between Sebastião Salgado and Polka Gallery founder Adélie de Ipanema. The talk will take place on Thursday 15 May 2025 from 3:30 pm to 4:30 pm in the Screening Room, Photo London.
