What is the Prix Pictet?
The Prix Pictet is the world’s leading photography and sustainability prize supported by the Swiss bank Pictet & Cie.
The Prix Pictet sets out to find photographs that communicate important messages about global environmental issues under a broad theme. Entry to the Prix Pictet is by nomination. The nominators for the Prix Pictet are a group of leading experts in the visual arts, including directors and curators of major museums and galleries as well as journalists and critics. They lead the search for a series of images that have the power and artistic quality demanded by the Prix. Each nominator is invited to propose between two and five photographers. How does the Prix Pictet work to create a more sustainable world?
Pictet & Cie is a leading global wealth and asset management group, which aims to be grounded on sustainable business principles for the environment, society and corporate governance. The Prix Pictet was developed by Pictet to deepen our understanding of the changes taking place in our world and to raise public awareness of the urgent need to take preventative action.
For each cycle of the award, in addition to the main prize, a Commission is awarded to a photographer selected from the Shortlist to undertake a field trip to a region where the Bank is supporting a sustainability project.
Where can I see Prix Pictet exhibitions?
If I have not been nominated but I still believe that my work might be of relevance for the prize, how do I proceed?
Photographers not nominated, but wishing to submit their work for consideration, are invited to contact the Prix Pictet Secretariat. In such cases the Secretariat will confer with the Prix Pictet’s photography advisors prior to submitting the work to the full Jury for consideration. Read more information on the nomination process.
