For more than three decades, Gideon Mendel has documented the human realities of a changing world through long-term photographic projects.
Known for series such as Drowning World and Damage: A Testament of Faded Memory, Gideon's photographs move beyond statistics and headlines, focusing instead on the personal stories that emerge in the aftermath of floods, storms and environmental and social disruption.
By placing people at the centre of the frame, his work reveals both the vulnerability and resilience of communities living through these changes.
We visited Gideon in his London studio to discuss his approach to photography and some of his most impactful projects.
